A little bit of information to help you get to know me.
I'm Claire, born in Edinburgh, living in Belfast and lucky enough to have been organising events since my very first job out of University in 2000. Over the years, I've organised VIP events for President Bill Clinton, Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton, President FW De Klerk, former Prime Minister Tony Blair and Senator George Mitchell.
When I married my lovely husband, Steven, I realised that living in Belfast while planning a wedding in Scotland was tough. I wished I had someone local helping out with supplier recommendations and essential admin tasks and that gave me the idea to start The Wedding Company. A night out with the girls and a few glasses of wine gave me the push I needed and the rest is history!
Since starting The Wedding Company, I've worked on weddings of all shapes and sizes. I love getting to know my couples and discovering what details will make their wedding special to them. Memorable venues have included castles, stately homes, traditional country pubs, contemporary hotels, marquees, a yurt and a tipi in a meadow.
I love every bit of my job. From the big picture wedding planning to all of the tiny details on the day, like making sure the dress looks perfect and carrying the bridesmaids' bags. I'll even be the one to let the Chef know that the Father of the Bride spoke for more than the promised five minutes and we need to delay the start of the meal (that's a scary job, trust me)!
I'm always sad when a wedding is over because the couples I work with feel like friends by the time we get there. My aim is to discreetly oversee everything that's happening without stepping on toes or bossing anyone around. I take the time to understand more than just the logistics of the day. I like to know if Great Aunt Liz needs a wee bit of extra attention to make her feel like a VIP or if the Best Man's nerves will get the better of him before his speech. I've even been known to keep the kids entertained with endless games of Top Trumps to give their mum the time to choose her bouquet.
